Select an organization you like or are familiar with. Now, imagine you are the Human Resources Director for that organization and the CEO has asked you to develop the next 3-
year strategic plan for your department.
Some important aspects to think about while creating the strategic plan are the organizational
needs in relation to the following aspects:
• Staffing (industry data)
o Internal/ External Recruitment
o Needs of specific KSAs
o Recruitment and Selection Process
o Hard to fill positions.
• Training and Development (cost-benefit analysis)
o Organizational Needs
• Health and Safety (direct-indirect costs from past, present, future)
o How is the organization doing?
o How to improve?
For this assignment do the following:
• Present a brief description of your organization, including the industry, mission,
vision, and goals
• Environmental Scan
o Identify opportunities and threats that could influence future decisions.

o Set timelines for achieving the goals of your strategic plan.
Your paper should be 8 pages in length and conform to APA guidelines. Include at

3-year strategic plan for the human resources department of an organization:
This 3-year strategic plan has been developed for the human resources department of ABC Company, a leading manufacturer and distributor of office supplies based in the United States. ABC Company has a mission to provide high-quality, affordable office supplies to businesses and consumers across North America. The company’s vision is to be the top choice for all office supply needs through excellent customer service, innovative products, and operational efficiency.
Environmental Scan
Opportunities for ABC Company’s HR department include the growing remote and hybrid work trends emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic (Parker et al., 2022).1 This allows for a more flexible workforce and potential to recruit from a wider geographic area. Threats include rising competition for talent as the job market tightens (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022).2 Skilled workers have more options, making retention and recruitment more challenging.
Internal Analysis
Strengths of the HR department include strong employee engagement scores and a positive company culture. However, the aging workforce is a weakness, with many eligible to retire over the next 5 years. This creates the opportunity to bring in new talent and perspectives.
Strategic Direction and Implementation Plan
Vision: To be an employer of choice through industry-leading people practices.
Mission: To attract, develop and retain top talent through competitive benefits, learning opportunities, and a supportive work environment.
Goals:
Reduce voluntary turnover by 15% annually through enhanced retention strategies.
Increase workforce diversity at all levels by 10% annually through targeted recruiting.
Achieve 90% employee engagement scores on annual surveys.
Strategies:
Implement flexible and hybrid work arrangements
Expand tuition reimbursement and skills training programs
Strengthen mentorship programs for career development
Improve diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
Enhance total rewards package, including competitive pay and benefits
Metrics: Voluntary turnover rate, diversity metrics, employee engagement survey results.
Timelines: Goals to be achieved annually over the 3-year period. Retention strategies to show results within 6 months, while diversity and engagement goals will take 12-18 months to demonstrate progress. Metrics will be tracked quarterly and reported to senior leadership.
