Telehealth technology is an essential tool in healthcare that can improve access to healthcare services, reduce healthcare costs, and improve the quality of care for patients. It has become increasingly important in recent years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when face-to-face healthcare visits have been limited.
According to a study by Bashshur, Shannon, and Krupinski (2019), telehealth technology has been shown to improve access to care and reduce healthcare costs, especially for patients in rural and underserved areas. The study found that telehealth technology can reduce hospital admissions, emergency department visits, and length of stay in the hospital. Furthermore, telehealth technology can improve patient outcomes and satisfaction with care.
