Assessment Description
Students are required to submit weekly journal entries throughout the course. These reflective narratives help students identify important learning events that happen throughout the course and the practicum. In each week’s entry, students should reflect on the personal knowledge and skills gained.
Write a reflection journal (250 words) to outline what has been discovered about your professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses, and additional resources that could be introduced in a given situation to influence optimal outcomes. Each week there will be a specific focus to use in your reflection. Integrate leadership and inquiry into the current practice. Please make sure to address all areas in your writing.
TOPIC FOCUS: LEADERSHIP & ECONOMIC MODELS
________________________
Throughout my professional practice and the course, I have gained valuable insights into the importance of leadership and economic models in influencing optimal outcomes. This reflection journal will focus on how these concepts have impacted my professional growth, as well as the identification of my personal strengths and weaknesses.
In terms of leadership, I have come to understand that effective leadership goes beyond simply giving directions or making decisions. It involves inspiring and empowering others to achieve common goals. Through various experiences in my practicum, I have witnessed the power of transformational leadership, where leaders motivate and encourage their team members to reach their full potential. This approach fosters collaboration, creativity, and innovation, ultimately leading to improved outcomes.
Regarding economic models, I have learned that they play a crucial role in healthcare organizations. Economic models help analyze the financial aspects of healthcare delivery and guide decision-making processes. Understanding these models has enabled me to appreciate the importance of cost-effectiveness, resource allocation, and budget management in providing high-quality care. I have also realized the significance of staying updated on current economic trends and healthcare policies to make informed decisions.
As for my personal strengths, I have discovered that I excel in communication and teamwork. These skills have allowed me to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive patient care. Additionally, my ability to adapt to change and embrace new technologies has facilitated my professional growth and enhanced patient outcomes.
However, I have also identified areas for improvement. One of my weaknesses is a tendency to be overly cautious when taking risks or making decisions. While being cautious can be beneficial in some situations, it is important to strike a balance and embrace calculated risks to drive innovation and growth. To overcome this weakness, I plan to engage in continuous learning, seek feedback from mentors and colleagues, and actively participate in professional development opportunities.
To further enhance my leadership and economic knowledge, I will explore additional resources such as books, journals, and online courses. Engaging with experts in the field through networking events and attending conferences will also provide valuable insights and expand my professional network.
In conclusion, my reflective journey has highlighted the significance of leadership and economic models in healthcare. It has helped me recognize my strengths in communication and teamwork, while also identifying areas for improvement. By integrating leadership and inquiry into my practice, I aim to continually develop my skills, embrace calculated risks, and leverage additional resources to influence optimal outcomes.
