For Step 7, The calendar should start on August 4, 2018 and end 2 years later.
For Step 8, Name calendar as Plant Sale on 9/2/2018 recurring for 10 years. Assign it to Task: Plant Sale.
For Step 14: Check Project Summary Task box in GanttChartTools –> Format –> Show/Hide Group

So, First Change the Project Finish Date to 9/6/18 (In Project Info)
Make sure that Builders Calendar goes from 8/2/18 thru 8/2/20
Step 4: Task 13 (Compare Prices) has duration of 1 wk. 1 Week is same as 5 working days in the standard calendar, so if you lower the duration by 2 days, new duration is 3 days!
Step 6: Create Volunteers Calendar. see diagram below: Exception Days – Work every day including Sat/Sunday starting 1/1/2018. Recur daily for 1 year.
(Note: Diagram shows for 1/1/2014-1/1/2015; you do it similarly, but from 1/1/2018 – 1/1/2019)
For steps 8 and 9; answer/respond using a Word file.
For step 9, select all the tasks as instructed, and change Calendar to Volunteers in Task –> Information –> Advanced Tab (see diagram below)
For steps 12-14, Print to a pdf file (tip: Can use PrimoPdf as written in Syllabus or even take a photo with your phone and upload instead!)
For Steps 13/14 in assignment description in the book. Ignore the Report type requested (Not available in Current Project Versions).
Instead choose ANY 2 report types that you like!
Report Tab –> choose report Type. Then under Page Setup, add the Header (Looks like Excel Page Setup)
Step 15:
Network Diagram Tools –> Format –> Box Styles (for changing the ways the symbol for a task category looks like, ex: Milestones, Critical Tasks etc.
Network Diagram Tools –> Format –> Box (for changing the ways the symbol for a specific task, ex: Milestone symbol for Task 22)
Network Diagram Formats: Don’t have to spend too much time… just some formatting is fine (of course, you can do it elaborately if you like!). Example below.
Step 16: Gantt Chat Formatting. GanttChartTools –> Format –> Bar Styles. Play with the options in the Bars and Text Tabs. A sample diagram for changing the Text for Summary Bar is
shown below.
Step 16: To Change non working days grey color: Double click the Grey color on the Gantt Chart to get the Timescale Dialog Box – then change color & pattern
Step 16: To Change Critical tasks to RED color, see example below. Format –> Text Styles

So, first change the Start Date of the project to 8/1/18 (from 8/1/14)
While doing the assignment, instructions ask you to “make a note of …”, “Record…”, “on your paper…”, etc in steps such as 7,13,14,16, and17. Just write your responses in a single
Word file. You can type “Step 7 Answer:, ” “Step13 Answer:, ” and so forth, then type in the Answers. Upload the single Word File on eLearn with the responses.
When asked to Print (step 22)…print to a pdf file or any common electronic format (like a photo using your camera) and upload as well.
(NOTE: The Years shown in the Dates of the Diagrams shown below are for old years. They will be 2018 etc for you as you are changing Project start date to this year – so do not get
confused!)
Step 13:
Project–> Project Information (to display the Project Information Dialog Box like shown below); then in that dialog box, click Statistics Button to Get the Project Statistics (like shown below)
Note: can also do File –> Info, and then click on Project Statistics

Step 14: In the Other Views drop down, select More Views… (Diagram below) , then pick “Resource Allocation” (diagram below)
Next Overallocation is found in Resource –> Next Overallocation
Step 15: Click on Leveling Options (Resource Tab) and ensure that they are set to Manual (See diagram below). Then click Level All

Step 16: View –> Other Views –> More Views –> select Leveling Gantt View
After zooming to see entire project, notice that many tasks have a preLevel and a new schedule. No need for identifying each task, BUT WHICH TASK (s) was delayed due to Leveling (hint:
see the Leveling Delay Column)…so Did the Project duration change? if so, By How much? What was the Project duration before and after leveling? What is new Finish date?
Step 17: Right Click on Top Left of Task Entry Table, and choose Schedule
Step 18: Right Click on Top Left of Task Entry Table, and choose Cost
Step 19: View –> Resource Sheet View…follow directions in assignment and type in a Cost for General Labor. see diagram

Step 21: when instruction says: “..apply the Cost form to the lower pane,…” – Do this instead: View–> split view –> Details–> TaskForm
Select the task as per instructions, and assign as requested
Except for “20,000 bricks to Brick exterior (task 11) ” , just enter the resource, and click OK.
For task 11, type 20000 for units and then click OK. It will look like the diagram below.
Step 22: in MS Project 2016/2013 Reports –> Costs –> Cash flow (from dropdown)
Step 23: To do as instructed, need to do as follows: File –> Info –> Project Information –> Advanced Properties to view the dialog box as shown in diagram below.
