This proposal is presented to help the company understand the potential of enterprise technology solutions in software design for household energy consumption (Ambler,2017). Enterprise systems run a solar panel infrastructure for power generation in the commercial and residential properties. lnvesting in enterprise technology such as solar panels establishes a platform that improves the services and shapes the trajectory of the business.
Requirements Specifications The functional requirement for lnvest West is that the presented model must satisfy the customer’s expectation. The presented proposal covers both the design and the primary residential energy needs (Stellman and Greene,2015). The proposal will also address energy expectations that enables the client to determine how, what and when they choose to navigate they residential or commercial energy consumption. The designed system is expected to cut down overhead costs and to recoup the investment costs within the first year. Another requirement is that the club members of the company are required to communicate securely and safely with each other therefore all activities are bound to the terms and conditions. The proposed enterprise system is a company that entails individuals with valuable experiences in the design, installation and maintenance of the solar energy technology (Sommerville, 2017).The company also has associates from diverse backgrounds from the lT field and software engineering hence an automated and secure communication systems.
Scope The basic deliverables of the project are expected to satisfy the customer’s expectations. The information delivered must be understandable and clear to the stakeholders for them to understand the flow in the system operation and the software development processes. Also, the customer requirements should be clearly stated hence outlining the necessary changes required from the system being modelled. Some of the requirement and changes may not be identified onset but should not allow uncontrolled scope changes (Turley,2010). The goal of the scope is to evaluate other additional power requirements that could establish other effects of communication on the solar power system.
Problem Statement The customer has requested that a specific solar energy system to be modeled with power generation, storage, distribution abilities and compatibility with the existing electric circuits. The solar system will be designed to power residential areas constantly throughout the 24 hour period especially during the summer when the sun has the highest elevation .During the winter season, the household will remain powered due to the storage functionality of the solar panel. With appropriate technology the solar technology can be designed to merge with the enterprise system as well as the diverse circuits in the customer premises. ln addition, the customer expects the design to build a solar system that can respond to data communication systems for effective monitoring and control (Murray-Webster,2015).
Project Risks Every project entails opportunities as well as potential negative challenges. The major problem in the solar power design is that the solar may fail to get enough power for its maximum functionalities due to environmental conditions. ldentifying and assessing the risks allows the project management team to come up with potential solutions for the problem (Kotonya and Sommerville,2016). The required product may face challenges such as skills shortage to enable the incorporation of programming into the equipment. The impact of such potential risk may delay the project as well as compromise the quality of the specific equipment ordered by the customer. Also, the storage abilities of the solar energy system may not cover the long periods of winter because the lack of sunlight may cause model failure which is against the customer’s requirements.
The solutions to such issues entail installing a 250ah battery which can be doubled by parallel installation with a similar battery or acquiring a single 500ah battery. To tackle skill shortage, the project member will attend a short crash course to get enlightened. The project members will also be required to work for long hours to meet the target deadlines hence delivering the project on time.
