Assignment Description
Individual essay – identify a public organisation of your choice from the private, government or third
sectors that has not performed as successfully as they had planned over the past 3 years.
The activity is to produce a reflective commentary on practice.
The essay word count is 3500 words.
This assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your new knowledge and skills.
The pass mark is 50%.

This is an Individual Essay. Detailed advice on the structure and content of Essay is on Moodle for
your reference and discussion during the weekly Seminars. An analytical, critical, formal Business
English writing style that uses evidence to support or challenge your recommendations is required.
Advice on how to undertake and write up your critical reflection during the weekly seminar and notes
are available on Moodle.
Submit only one Appendix of the extensive Library references you have read that reflects the study
allocated to this learning and assessment. The Appendix is not included in the word count.

The Individual Essay should be created using Microsoft Word. You have access to Microsoft software
for free through your university account.
Suggested guide for the Essay is available on Moodle. Font should be either Times New Roman or
Arial, font size of 12. Spacing 1.5 and normal margins.
The report word count is 3,500 words (+/-10% e.g. word count can be between 3,150 and 3,850 words).
The Individual Essay should contain all the relevant information (see assignment guide on Moodle) but
also be visually appealing including the use of digital media, graphs, tables, and figures as appropriate.
You will be assessed on the originality of your report, application of theory and knowledge, as well as
your use of research and referencing throughout.
