Self-efficacy is the belief in one’s ability to perform a specific task or behavior. Coping is the process of managing stress and emotions in response to challenges or threats. Learned helplessness is the tendency to give up or feel powerless when faced with repeated negative outcomes. Social support is the availability and quality of interpersonal relationships that provide emotional, informational, or instrumental assistance.

However, regardless of the mode of delivery, patient education should be tailored to the individual needs, preferences, and learning styles of each patient.
