Virtualization and Cloud Computing World
Assignment 4: Virtualization and Cloud Computing World
Due Week 7 and worth 105 points

The popularity and rapid adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) by a number of organizations has impacted internal IT / IS departments. These services provide a virtualization infrastructure that covers data storage, networking, desktop computing, mobile computing, and so on.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
1. Write My Essay | Papers Writing Service Online by Essay Hub Experts- Describe at least three (3) items that an organization’s IT / IS department should consider when an organization’s strategy calls for the use of SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS.
2. Evaluate the ways that SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS are used to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and increase Return on Investment (ROI).
3. Create SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS architectural diagrams using Microsoft Visio or an equivalent such as Dia. Need first-class papers? Get Fast Essay Writers US & urgent essay writing service Ca – Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.

• Use technology and information resources to research issues in enterprise architecture.
• Write clearly and concisely about enterprise architecture topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions

Virtualization and Cloud Computing World
Development of Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS) impacts organization’s IT department. These services offer virtual infrastructures that assist in data storage, desktop computing, networking, and mobile computing, among others. Firms must strategize for security, cost and IT standards to make these services implementations successful (Kavis, 2014). The IT/IS department should develop standardized processes in cloud computing, and ensure that the services are robust, flexible, and responds quickly to operations at a reduced cost. Security entails securing contents, network services, data leaks and sign-on/sign-in managements. These elements would transform IT department experts’ deliveries through cloud computing models like SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.
Most organizations use SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) while increasing the return on investment (ROI) (Howell, 2012). SaaS does not take an organization many resources to implement. The organization management only subscribes to a license that allows them to access necessary services. The organization does not bother to figure out a server, network equipment, and machine costs. Implementation of IaaS is always at the end of a cloud computing spectrum. An organization does not control its software infrastructure, and neither buys nor maintains any equipment and servers: the operations are purely on virtual machines. Lastly, PaaS gives an organization a platform with tools and gadgets that simplifies developments of websites, social apps, and mobile apps and does not have to hire a software developer (Caruso, 2017).

The SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS (SPIs) strategies have various impacts on the organization’s IT support team when a firm implements them. The level of involvement of IT pros within the organization would reduce since most platforms are virtually hosted. Some companies even reduce the number of IT experts immediately after implementing the SPIs as a measure of reducing costs due to reduced level of controls (Howell, 2012). The remaining IT/IS personnel will have to work on ensuring that the programs are up-to-date with increased robustness and security levels.
The three considerations that the organization’s management should be aware of include the following: First is Data migration and control, this helps to find the answer to questions such as where data is being stored, how it is accessed and whether the organization has control over it. Second is WAN, Cloud, and Bandwidth (Kavis, 2014). Here the concerns include the number of concurrent users connecting, the number of applications or workloads that reside in the cloud, the amount of traffic to be experienced through the WAN and the distance to be covered by the data. Lastly is the compatibility of the application in the cloud. It accesses whether an application can peacefully live side-by-side while presenting to the user a single interface. Also, the compatibility concern addresses the issue of complete transparency on the side of end-user as well as complete control at the side of the data center.
Three security issues associated with this kind of infrastructure include data breaches which occur when hackers steal or release sensitive information or when a person mistakenly and accidentally exposes information to unauthorized audience resulting in serious harm to the organization or business. Insecure APIs and interfaces could lead to the attack or human error since cloud APIs’ IP addresses expose connection between the cloud and users. System vulnerabilities is also a security issue in the form of exploitable bugs of a program in the operating system and hackers can deliberately use them to infiltrate and control a computer system (Caruso, 2017).
