Introduction:
The goal of this paper is to summarize and analyze the results of a needs assessment in program development for staff or basic nursing education programs. The focus of the search is on peer-reviewed journal articles published after 2005. This paper aims to provide a clear and elaborate description of the results of the needs assessment in each article and describe the influence of the results of the needs assessment on the curriculum design. This paper also aims to support the analysis with literature and use at least three journal articles in addition to textbooks.
Peer-Reviewed Journal Article Search Process and Results:
The search for peer-reviewed journal articles was conducted using the Herzing Library databases. The databases used were CINAHL, MEDLINE, and PubMed. The search terms used were “program development,” “staff education,” “nursing education,” “curriculum,” and “needs assessment.” Filters were applied to narrow the search to peer-reviewed journal articles published after 2005. The search resulted in 15 peer-reviewed journal articles, and after reviewing each article’s abstract, three articles were chosen that met the criteria of the search.
Results of the Needs Assessment in Each Article:
